From above, the land tells its own story. The fields of my prairie childhood, stitched together in shades of yellow canola, green, and flax blue gave me an early sense of how earth itself is a patchwork—shaped by weather, memory, and time. Beneath the wide sky, the landscape seemed both infinite and intimate, a living quilt of resilience and change.
Patchwork Earth draws on that memory of looking down at the land and feeling both wonder and belonging. The two panels carry different moods: one vibrant and full of contrast, the other hushed as though veiled in mist. Layer upon layer of oil and cold wax suggest terrain both eroded and enduring, surfaces where history has left its trace.
Together, the diptych becomes less about geography than about presence and memory—the inner landscapes carried within us, as well as the outer ones that shape who we are. Patchwork Earth is an invitation to see the beauty in what has shifted, endured, and been woven together over time.
