Gathering Storm
"No storm can last forever… Not even the one in your life." — Iyanla Vanzant
The sky in this painting carries the weight of a storm building—charged with possibility, uncertain in its direction. I challenged myself to work with a restrained palette, using texture and contrast rather than colour to express the intensity of emotion. The dark, moody surface holds that tension, while sudden bursts of brightness break through like moments of unexpected hope.
When I created this work, I thought about the times in my own life when change was inevitable, feeling the air thick with tension and not yet knowing what comes next, how to get through it, and unsure of when it would end. I’ve stood in those seasons, unsure of the outcome, and I painted this as a reminder that storms do not last forever. The turbulence gives way, and what remains is strength, renewal, and the beauty of light returning.
Looking back, I can see how each storm, however turbulent, reshaped me and cleared space for a more authentic life. For me, this painting is a testament to resilience, courage, and the promise that even in the hardest seasons, there is always a blessing waiting to be revealed.
