“Little by little, one travels far.” — J.R.R. Tolkien
Feeling for Stones is less about destination than about the journey of endurance, a visual reminder that persistence shapes transformation, and that over time, little by little, the path becomes clear.
This work unfolded slowly, built through layers of acrylic paint, collage, and graphite, each mark added, then sealed in resin, only to be sanded back again—like memory surfacing through time. Both turbulence and calm coexist: passages where paint breaks open, others where it settles into quiet solidity. In its making (along with the companion piece, Finding My Way), patience was essential, as if the painting itself asked to emerge gradually, one layer at a time.
There is a rhythm in the textures, a sense of footholds scattered across shifting ground. Deep crimson fragments pulse like signals, grounding the cooler passages of turquoise and sand. It holds the paradox of fragility and strength, carrying the awareness that progress rarely comes in a single leap but in a series of steady steps.
