At the Flower Shop
This piece was one of my first abstracted florals, and it felt as though it painted itself. I began with free, gestural marks and layers of collage, letting intuition lead the way. At some point, the shape of a flower pot appeared almost on its own, and from there the rest of the painting slowly revealed itself.
What I love most are the contrasts: the intricate, lace-like patterns of the collage vase, the subtle texture of the glass vessel behind it, and the lively variety of marks that keep the eye moving. To me, At the
