Sharon Lalonde
Courtenay, British Columbia
Sharon Lalonde has been creating from a very early age, using all forms of artistic expression.
She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Saskatchewan, followed by a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Educational Psychology from the University of Calgary.
Sharon began her educational career teaching art, followed by thirty-three years, as a counsellor. During that time, she devoted her creative energy to designing costumes for theatrical productions.
Since moving to the Comox Valley, in 2012, she has been able to immerse herself in painting and has achieved Active Member status, with the Federation of Canadian Artists.
The medium she chooses is acrylic and collage on canvas or wood panel. The inspiration is the challenge

“ Using acrylic paint, collage, and mark-making tools, my semi- abstract, expressionist paintings aim to convey the energy and soul of the image.
I measure success of the work by engaging viewers, who are compelled to spend time with my work and to ask questions. I hope the gratitude I feel for being able to create, comes through in the paintings.
