Living on the West Coast makes one keenly aware of the process of decay and renewal. This painting was inspired by the image of the waters edge near desolation sound, where lush grasses and water plants flourished thanks to the decaying material below it. It is a tribute to the fragility of the ecosystem and the fact that “To everything, there is a season”.
