About the Artwork

As summer fades, the deer are entering their prime condition of the season. Getting ready for the rut, their antlers are stunning, their body condition is at its peak fitness. This mule deer buck is taking some time to savour the coolness of the shade and save his strength for the coming battles for breeding rights to does. Mule deer enjoy a rocky environment with pine trees and some scrubby cover from predators. This painting was a challenge and actually came out completely different (but much better) than I originally intended.

Joie Paré AFC

Westbridge, British Columbia

Joie paints wildlife in acrylic on canvas with detailed realism. Focusing on Canadian landscapes and animals.

"I love to capture the serenity of nature. So the viewer can feel the emotions of places less seen in everyday life. Whether it’s a tenacious grizzly chasing salmon, or a lounging deer in a cool shadowy forest. I want people to feel what I do when I paint."
