The ancient practice of reflecting on mortality snuck into many of our lives during the Covid period. My still life, “Memento Mori”, arose from an impromptu placement of a mask I wanted to save for another wearing... I popped it on a plaster cast I have for studying facial anatomy and was instantly reminded of the old Dutch masterworks. A candle stub and faded flower and some dramatic lighting completed the somewhat macabre arrangement and voila... a reminder of our pandemic experience.
