Phones have flipped our world--our way of “talking,” our connections to others, and even the way we hold ourselves physically. To explore this strange new world, I adopted a high contrast limited palette and pushed myself to work in a more abstracted way, using thick paint and a palette knife for much of it. The unusual composition (the painting can be hung both ways to highlight either side of the “conversation” between the two young women) invites reflection on connection… are they worlds apart, or closer than ever?
