About the Artwork

A view of early morning in winter, ferries and freighters already moving goods and people around over the ocean in the dawn light. Part of a series exploring atmospheric light and colour on the Pacific coast, this painting was inspired by winter walks in Victoria along Dallas Road, overlooking James Bay.

Karen Sheehan

North Vancouver, British Columbia

Karen works with acrylics and oils to evoke the colors, textures, shapes, and moods of natural subjects. She conveys the essence of light and colour using an impressionist-influenced realism style. Exploring nature provides Karen with inspiration and a desire to share the renewal and wonder experienced in these settings.

"Art offers a unique opportunity to enter a calm, contemplative space which harmonizes life’s dissonances. I hope that you find renewal, optimism and possibility in my art."
