Karen Sheehan
North Vancouver, British Columbia
Karen works primarily with acrylics and oils to evoke the colors, textures, and shapes of subjects. She also uses printmaking, ink and textile art techniques, choosing the most appropriate medium for the subject/message.
Karen seeks to convey the essence of mood, light and colour in each work through an impressionist-influenced realism style. She explores line and form using abstracted painting techniques and linoprint.
Exploring the natural world provides endless inspiration and a desire to share the renewal and wonder that Karen experiences in these places. As our world changes, creating an enduring memory of places has become increasingly important. Works of art may be the records of places that future generations will never see.

Art offers a unique opportunity to enter a calm, contemplative space which harmonizes life’s dissonances. I hope that you find renewal, optimism and possibility in my art.
