I love to paint wood. The colors, the grain the warmth or the coolness… there is so much in wood. Even when it has long since been a tree. Driftwood to me has more life than “green” wood. I wanted to paint this tangle of wood to show the movement the eye takes around the image. The napping plovers warming in the sun, the bit of green grass growing up between the logs and the soft sand give a hint to the bigger picture of the beach out of frame.

"I love to capture the serenity of nature. So the viewer can feel the emotions of places less seen in everyday life. Whether it’s a tenacious grizzly chasing salmon, or a lounging deer in a cool shadowy forest. I want people to feel what I do when I paint."
