Nagel painted this fishing dory in the Rockport MA harbour some years ago, yet it is a fitting metaphor for our current times - a boat adrift…unmoored without a skipper or passenger….floating aimless on a glassy sea…trapped between the dark and the light…its future uncertain…perhaps to drift to a safe harbor or to sink in a storm. Like this boat, our society has come unmoored from a pandemic and it's siblings - an economic collapse and climate change. We are caught between a past what we can no longer live and a future that we cannot see.
