This painting was inspired by a plein air journey along the historic North Canol Road and the remote wilderness of MacMillan Pass on the Yukon–Northwest Territories border. During the brief northern autumn, the tundra is transformed into a spectacular mosaic of crimson, gold, and ochre as the landscape prepares for the long Arctic winter.
Painted from firsthand experience, this work captures both the remarkable beauty of Canada's far North and the quiet transition between seasons—a fleeting moment when the wilderness is at its most vibrant.
