This painting was inspired by an expedition into the remote Mackenzie Mountains near Macmillan Pass in the Yukon Territory. I have returned to this rugged landscape many times over the years, most often in the autumn, when the land reveals its quiet strength and shifting moods. The vastness, solitude, and subtle transitions of colour offer endless viewpoints and a sense of timelessness.
