About the Artwork

This original painting is inspired by years of painting and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. I am especially drawn to the transition zones between distinct mountain environments, where forests give way to open alpine terrain. The juxtaposition of shifting shapes, textures, and colour relationships naturally creates dynamic and engaging compositions. This work captures the moment of arrival in the high alpine after a long ascent, when the effort is rewarded with a sudden abundance of alpine flowers and sweeping views of the mountains rising above.
