Since a “wake up call” of a sudden aggressive illness and its treatment in 2005 Penny has been fascinated with the experience we all have of responding directly in the moment, in a way that is fresh and true to ourselves. During these times of presence, we can experience spontaneity, creativity, and joy even in the direst of circumstances. Her art is influenced by 28 years as a psychologist, dance, Buddhism, film, art, literature, and daily life. She hopes something in her paintings stimulates inspiration and new possibilities for those who view them. She combines realistic and magical elements to express possibility, mystery, movement, energy, interconnection, and the vitality of life.
