The beauty and depth of aspects of the natural world can transcend time and place when we least expect it. We’ve all had the experience of a glimpse of something that can arrest us and stop us in our tracks. This white orchid quietly sitting in a little pot in a darkened corner, struck me this way – timeless beauty. I got my oil paints and initially did it in one sitting as a premier coup. I then returned the next day to go more deeply into it. A meditative experience.

My addiction is to the magical state of direct experience, when the thinking mind leaves me alone, and I am free to discover new possibilities and express the joy and vitality of some aspect of life through painting. I am also inspired to stimulate this in others.
