I am attempting to express the pure joy and spontaneity that is available in moments where we are utterly in the present moment instead of captive in the dull conceptual world of repetitive thoughts. This scene was inspired by seeing people thrashing around in freezing cold water - all else forgotten momentarily, save the intense sensations of the cold! Memories and imagination contributed the feel of far away places and possibility.

My addiction is to the magical state of direct experience, when the thinking mind leaves me alone, and I am free to discover new possibilities and express the joy and vitality of some aspect of life through painting. I am also inspired to stimulate this in others.
