I love the texture, age and vibrancy of alleys in the Plateau of Montreal. I wanted to capture the feeling of warm light on brick, metal and asphalt and the verdancy of vegetation poking through cracks on a warm, late summer day. I was drawn into this alley while exploring neighbourhoods in Montreal and felt the imprint of current and past lives dwelling and passing through here. As a native Montrealer, this scene expresses a familiar sense of place for me.
