There is a secondary highway between Kamloops and Vernon we love for its gorgeous, rolling Interior BC landscapes. This particular area by Monte Lake is regenerating from major forest fires that occurred three years prior. The late afternoon, golden light warming harmonious grays, blues and greens attracted me. The contrasting yellow/ orange curving lines in the road, shadows and power poles played a beautiful repetitive beat – which I endeavoured to capture in this painting. I want to observe how this landscape changes over time with regrowth of the forest.
