About the Artwork

“I am alive, and drunk with sunlight.” - George R.R. Martin. Immersed in the garden's radiant warmth, flowers pulsate under the sun in ecstatic exuberance. The quieter luminous backdrop contrasts the variety of textures and colours conveying aliveness and an elevated atmosphere. Featuring shades of magenta and red, “Sunlit” makes use of bursts of yellow, white, and black to add contrast and depth. The impasto application of paint gives the piece a tactile, three-dimensional effect, with swirls, smears, and dabs of paint suggesting drunken movement and energy.
