About the Artwork

We spend our summers by the lake in Alberta. Delphiniums were planted long ago, perhaps by the original homesteaders of the place, and grow wild behind their old log buildings. I transplanted some in front of our lodge, and they just took off, often reaching heights of 7 feet or more. The towering delphinium heads in the foreground are set against the lively backdrop of grass and path swathed in rich reds and yellows, and the lake furthest back. The dynamic interplay of foreground and background conveys the energy of this natural environment that is wild, yet harmonious.
