About the Artwork

Live Jurying Item #1
"Book Smart" reflects the story of my own childhood experience of using books as the foundation to create Barbie houses, turning everyday objects into whole worlds with my imagination. With vibrant colors and bold shapes, this painting captures how I flipped my family's financial limitations into limitless possibilities, creating colorful fantastical worlds from what I could easily access.

Milena Guberinic

Ridgeway, Ontario

I explore the intersection of memory, identity, and psychological narratives, using nature's unpredictability as a foundation. By balancing chaos and form, I craft abstract, atmospheric compositions that challenge familiar perceptions and invite viewers to reflect on the evolving nature of self and reality.

"For me, painting is a way of holding fragments of self together, even when they don’t quite fit."
