The Growing Gap is part of my Re-Create Series. It is an interactive piece and a statement about how social inequalities have been increasing in the last thirty years, in the US and worldwide. The red text, purposely created to look dirty and raw, is well-researched data that conveys this social issue. The scale, the symbol of justice, made of pieces of broken mirror, reflects our social brokenness as a society. Finally, the scale is movable and invites the viewer to interact with the art, to create other shapes or words and respond to the impact of the text.
