The shape of a pear is unmistakable...or is it? At this time of the year, when I'm picking them from the tree in the lengthening shadows, I am amazed and delighted by the infinite variation in their shapes and sizes. Collected in a simple bowl, their sculptural forms are astounding, and almost too beautiful to eat. Almost.
