There are two times when I feel the closest to the Creator: When I walk alone, and when I am in the presence of mountains. Where I live, Kulth-ka-choolth is a towering presence that is visible from nearly every point in the neighbourhood, resplendent in her regal tiara of white. She is the source of our weather, of our water...and of the many thousands of creatures with whom we share this valley. Sometimes it feels almost as if she, by imposing her might upon us all below, is demanding our reverence and gratitude for all that she provides. On Sundays, I like to walk down Church Road and silently pay my respects.
