Blue hydrangeas are among my favorite flowers to grow and I love how each blossom, and even each petal, varies in color and shape. They are inspiring and interesting characters to paint. In this case, the canvas format was also part of the inspiration for this particular artwork. It presented certain challenges in how to create a good composition within these parameters.
