This painting depicts tourists climbing the city walls of Xian, China on a rainy spring day. Vendors took advantage of the conditions to sell cheap and colorful umbrellas to desperate visitors. Marco Polo saw these walls on his travels to meet the Khan in the 13th Century. The walls stretch over 17 kilometers and are wide enough on top for a 2-lane road.
