A visit to the 18th and 19th Century galleries of Hamburg's Kunsthalle art museum inspired "The Art Class". School children and their teacher have come to the museum seeking guidance from the masters. In the years before the Impressionists rejected detail and the Cubists rejected perspective, painters strived to render both in their art. This painting pays homage to both their art and their methods. Perspective adds depth to this impressive room. The arrangement of the class and their position in the room applies the classic Triangle and Golden Spiral design elements. Details give reason for the eyes to linger.
