About the Artwork

"Otter Rock Cove" depicts morning on a lonely Oregon beach as the sun burns away the fog. A solitary surfer emerges from the water onto a Zen garden beach below a towering cliff.

In a purposeful deviation from common practice, the focal point of the painting is tiny and obscured, i.e., the figure of the surfer. No less than 5 sight lights direct your eyes to this barely visible man. The fractured rock and the wet sand use both colour and texture to provide an appealing contrast to his surroundings.
