About the Artwork
"The Sunbathers" celebrates Sunday worshippers basking in the tropical sun on the sea wall in Belize City. While the sunbathers come from a single reference photo, the sea and sky are composites from many days along the shore. The sea and clouds are deliberately muted to keep the focus on the people. The horizon was placed to highlight their faces against a light background.
