About the Artwork

Inspired by a stunning sunrise on Kauai that the artist's wife slept through. We had the good fortune to rent a condo on a cliff above the sea...stunning sunrises, rainbows in the afternoon, and pounding surf at all hours...a true tropical paradise.

Noteworthy composition considerations include repeating the painting's proportions in the window and the use of the Rule of Thirds for positioning both the woman's highlighted silhouette in the image framed by the painting's perimeter and for positioning the horizon in the image framed by the window.
