Original painting is inspired by a hiking and plein air painting trip to Manning Provincial Park in British Columbia. In the height of summer, the alpine meadows come alive with colour and movement, and the air hums with the sounds of insects drifting across the slopes. In the studio, I drew on those field studies and memories to create this composition, focusing on the magical atmosphere of the high country. The whimsical shapes of the western anemone rise above the grasses and wildflowers, catching the light and giving the scene a sense of rhythm and vitality.
