An organic and undulating form with hidden negative spaces, I wished to express the discord between one's external presentation and internal dialogue. One one side, the decorative outer shell, seemingly open to receive. On the other side, the opening speaks instead of being split open, threads fraying, as the two ends try to balance. I was also interested in the challenge of rendering the finer details and thinner edges in a soft stone as a means to push what I could achieve in the medium.

Cat Mudryk
Burnaby, British Columbia
With her sculpture, Cat seeks to build a harmony between movement and stillness. As the completed sculpture presents itself for contemplation in its stilled state, it also represents motion and memory, as it could not exist without all the moments needed in its creation.
