I hike Notch hill as often as possible. I stop at awe every time as lighting conditions change and trees are illuminated differently on every walk. This was the first painting of my beloved forest. Vivid warm colors of arbutus trees in the evening glow were my objective here. I have concentrated on creating a strong focus and main interest on arbutus, plus good composition. I plan to pursue this topic extensively in the future as Island’s trees and nature are the main reason of my move here from Ontario.
