About the Artwork

I had to face my mother’s mortality this past year which I had been in total denial about. Taking on the role of caregiver, I was forced to take a close look at myself, my relationships with my siblings and my relationship with Mom. As her condition required a revamp of her home I now have her chairs. When I look at or sit in this one, it has become a metaphor for me, of my new revamped life and thoughts. I am utterly grateful to have been given the gift of more time with her.

Jeanette Orydzuk

Prince George, British Columbia

Jeanette uses her art to understand who she is and her place in the world. She works mostly from memory and imagination to acheive the feeling tone of an image rather than a realistic one.

"I allow myself to be versatile with media and styles because it helps me feel alive while creating and opens me up to new ideas for more work."
