Song Sparrow, Maplewood Flats
My family and I often go for walks in the Maplewood Flats Conservation Area in North Vancouver and we see all kinds of birds. Song sparrows are common and although they aren’t the most dramatic of species, I thought that this image captures the quiet dignity of small creatures in nature. I used an underpainting wet on wet technique to create a diffuse background, and wet on dry and dry brush for the details.
