About the Artwork

It’s named Georgeson Bay Road, called the valley road and for this painting I’ve renamed it Hawthorne Lane! I’m sure this stretch of Galiano countryside ending with the tree in the middle of the road has inspired many artists and even more paintings. We drink in the beauty of the blossoms as we journey past them in the spring and stop to pick berries for steaming cups of tea in the fall. A precious gift to those who call Galiano home.

Jeanne Erickson

Galiano Island, British Columbia

My work celebrates the beauty of Galiano Island and the rhythms of wild joy that connect everything in and around this little island. Recently I have been exploring the night sky, playing with the shapes of light and dark cast by the light of the moon.

""When painting our long narrow island I am tuned into the rhythms of open sky and ocean that weave through the tapestry of rock and forest connecting us all""
