Another piece inspired by a giant blue hydrangea in my yard. This piece features the untidy twigs and stems surrounding this huge bush. Pastes and papers, including handmade collage papers, form the underpainting. Then I used acrylic paints, ink pencils and chalk pastels to build up the painting, adding and subtracting as I went along. I hope it evokes the untidiness of early spring with all its promise of glorious summer.
