My son had given me this Rose for Mother's Day. I took a photograph of it so I would have a permanent reminder of his thoughtfulness. I set the Rose on my kitchen table and captured some nice colours in the photograph. I decided on the size of canvas, I primed it, drew it and painted in layers of oil paint. My method of layering transparent coats of paint requires drying periods and can be time consuming. But, the resulting richness of the colours makes it all worth it.
