C$1,000
Every August my wonderful city of Dollard des Ormeaux celebrates International Day. Many cultures are represented for this event. About 5 years ago I was in attendance and took some amazing photos. This one of the Chief was one of those highlights that I decided to work at. I drew my subject in various thumbnail sketches. I often make use of thumbnail sketches which facillitates choosing the right composition. I decide on the canvas size and draw my subject. In this case, I painted a monochromatic blue acrylic underpainting. This is my foundation for the oil painting. I proceed with many layers of oils and like to apply glazes of colour. This provides me with the lush, rich colours that I love so much. Of course, I allow for the proper amount of time for the layers to dry. I sign when satisfied that adding anything else would be redundant.
