The Eastern Township has a trove of treasures to uncover. Like this Coca Cola ice box I discovered on one of my walks. Abandoned beside an old barn, along with an old bicycle it made the perfect picture. This was the beginning of this painting. I drew out my thumbnail sketches and began thinking of adding modeling paste for texture. I layed this coat with my palette knife while contemplating the better thumbnail sketch. I allowed adequate time for the modeling paste to dry and then proceeded to draw the sketch I considered the best composition. I developed my layers of oil painting allowing sufficient time for these to dry before adding other transparent layers. I finally sign being happy with the vivid colours and the nice shadows that fall over the ice box, bicycle and snow.
