About the Artwork

I began this painting in response to the fire that wiped out Lytton BC this past summer. As I worked I began thinking about lost, defenseless and vulnerable people. The painting morphed in my mind as I couldn’t help thinking about the Black Lives Matter and closer to home, the All Lives Matter movements. It became a metaphor for these terrible injustices that take place in both our beautiful countries. I had to take a break, wipe tears, and pray for humanity.

Jeanette Orydzuk

Prince George, British Columbia

Jeanette uses her art to understand who she is and her place in the world. She works mostly from memory and imagination to acheive the feeling tone of an image rather than a realistic one.

"I allow myself to be versatile with media and styles because it helps me feel alive while creating and opens me up to new ideas for more work."
