Balancing delicately on one leg, the dancer mimics the flamingos that peacefully wade in the river, her motions controlled and precise. She does not try to change the birds - instead, she changes her position to set the flamingos at ease. Mutual understanding flows between the dancer and the birds as they enjoy the river together. Two vastly different creatures coexist, sharing the beauty of the natural landscape that surrounds them. The river slowly meanders around birds and human as they enjoy the moment, drawn together by mutual understanding and acceptance. Although they cannot understand each other’s language, they still share peace and trust as they come together. This painting reminds the viewer to tread lightly: you do not have to speak the same language or share the same experience as someone else to treat them with respect and understanding. Solidarity and harmony can be achieved if we simply listen, observe, and coexist peacefully with others.
