Jurying Item #1. No matter our age, the water holds a certain mystical appeal. The rushing ripples, the gentle gurgles, and the seductive swirls draw us in, enticing us to come enjoy the cool depths. First, a foot is hesitantly dipped in. The transition from warm air to cold water is always shocking, but still we venture farther. Up the ankles, towards the calves, the lapping at the waist - the water rises up and up, chilling us to the bone. Finally, we are submerged as far as we can go! With a shriek of “It’s too cold!” we turn around, ready to jump out to the welcoming shore.
