Lake Helen MacKenzie is a popular hiking destination for anyone who visits Mount Washington, on Vancouver Island. The smooth rocks surrounding the lake provide warmth to heat the water during the heat of summer and it is an ideal rest stop and place for lunch when one is making their way up the trail. Such was the case for this young couple who had stopped to share the view and a snack. The vibrant colour of the water and their garments made for a compelling image to paint. It is a perfect memory of summer on Vancouver Island.
