About the Artwork

Colour is about evoking emotional reaction. With this work, I wanted to colour the landscape in
the same way a poet might express its majesty in a lyrical sonnet ; colour interplaying with colour in much the same way a composer might lay down musical notes to compose a sonata evoking romance and nostalgia , expressive rebellion and constancy. This work was included in an FCA Painting on the Edge Exhibition.

Robin Timms, AFCA

Pender Island, British Columbia

Robin uses the phrase "colour hieroglyphics" to describe her incorporation of symbols, shapes, forms and marks to create her own personal language and colour stories on canvas.
Her work explores the interplay and interaction of colour in a contemporary context.

"Colour is everything and everyone reacts to colour differently. My work is intended to open a conversation with the viewer about the interactions and interplay of colour by creating colour stories in a contemporary context."
