This image was captured while out for a kayak with friends on Williston Reservoir. A kayak outing that nearly didn't happen as we debated on the shoreline whether or not we wanted breath in the wildfire smoke inundating the area at the time. The sun got a little higher in the sky as we debated, burning off what fog was mixed in with the smoke bringing more visibility and colour to the landscape. So out we went and I'm glad we did because it was a great time spent with friends although our throats were a bit raw afterwads. This image captures, for me, the impact of the current drought with the reservoir being so low in the fall season and how my recreational and artistic pursuits seem to be increasingly influenced by wildfires.
