About the Artwork

Granville Island is the story of successful recovery. Before the 1970's, the land was industrial. And then, someone saw the inherent possibilities and it has since been transformed into one of Vancouver's must-do destinations for tourists and locals alike.

This collage was inspired by a recent stay at the Granville Island Hotel. The view is an interpretation of a walk taken up Johnston Street, with some artistic license taken as to the correct placement of things along the way. Rather than copy a photo, I created from memory and imagination to give the essence of this very special Vancouver landmark.

Only the sky is acrylic paint. Everything else is collage and ink.
